All Student Must Have or Obtain a Class “D” License First to Apply for a Class “G” License
To become an Armed Security Guard in the State of Florida
- The applicant must be 21 years or older.
- The applicant is required 28 hours of training in a state certified facility.
- The applicant is required to take firearms training.
- The applicant must have a health certificate clearance from a doctor.
- The applicant is required target training and handgun marksmanship.
- The applicant is required ammunition training and firearms care.
- The applicant must submit fingerprinting.
- The applicant must undergo an FBI style background check.
- The applicant must have no record of substance abuse
- The Florida Statewide Firearms “G” Course will teach students firearms safety, the principles of marksmanship, firearms mechanics and liability. Skill development shall include marksmanship fundamentals, loading and unloading, the 4-step draw and clearing malfunctions.
The Certificate of Completion for successfully completing this course will be submitted along with the Department of Agriculture, Division of Licensing, Statewide Firearms “G” License Application.
When the student receives the Class “G” Security License he or she will then be able to work security or as a private investigator in an armed capacity.
The 4 hour Class G License Re-certification Course will refresh armed security officers and armed private investigators with the skills necessary to re-qualify for the Statewide Firearms G License.
The Florida Class G Firearm License Re-certification Course will cover firearms safety, marksmanship principles, firearms mechanics and review Florida Statutes 493, 776,790. The Statewide G License Re-certification Course will refresh students skills in marksmanship fundamentals, loading and unloading, the 4-step draw and clearing malfunctions.
