Interested in starting a career as a security officer in Florida?
To work as a security officer in Florida, you must meet the following requirements as per the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Division of Licensing: complete a 40-hour course from a certified security school, be at least 18 years old, have no disqualifying criminal history, provide fingerprints and a passport size photo, have the legal right to work in the U.S., and sign a waiver for a background check. The course covers topics such as physical security, access control, terrorism awareness, and emergency procedures, as well as skills like report writing, interviewing techniques, crime and accident prevention, and traffic control.
All students must go to the firearms range and safely discharge a firearm in the presence of the firearms instructor. All students must attend the range training.
